New Provider Training
4Cs offers an intensive training course to anyone who is interested in providing child care in their home. The classes are on Thursdays from 9am - 3pm in Spanish, and Thursday evenings from 6pm - 9pm in English. The new provider training is offered three times a year Fall, Winter and Spring. (See calendar for next start date) During the training participants will learn all of the steps involved in starting up a child care business, and be assisted with the process (including fingerprinting). The training in Spanish includes : an orientation from Community Care Licensing, Health & Safety, CPR, and First Aid taught by an authorized EMSA approved agency, 12 hours of Early Childhood Education with an emphasis on children ages 0-3 years, a home tour to a licensed provider, and a presentation by a provider discussing the business of child care, curriculum ideas, working with children with special needs. It also includes an introduction to support services provided by 4Cs including our Food Program, Resource & Toy Lending Library, referral services, and technical assistance. By the end of the training the Spanish speaking participants are ready to submit their application to Community Care Licensing in order to receive their license and begin providing care. The training on Thursday evenings in English includes all of the above except for the Community Care Licensing orientation and Health & Safety/CPR courses. For the English section you can work with our Resource Specialist to coordinate these other trainings to fit your personal schedule.

Success In Child Care
4Cs offers this five hour evening workshop for individuals who have just received their child care license or are interested in receiving their child care license. The first two and a half hour session focuses on the "Business of Child Care," which includes contracts, record keeping, marketing, working with parents, taking care of the provider. The topic of the second two and a half hour session is, "Meeting the Needs of the Children," which includes setting up a child centered environment, curriculum, family diversity, and an introduction and tour of the 4Cs toy library. The presenters are active licensed child care providers currently providing care in Sonoma County. The classes are offered alternating months and there is no fee. A CCIP participant can earn 5 training hours. (See Calendar for next start date)

Saturday Workshop Series
The Saturday Workshop Series offers a wide range of topics at varying levels of experience from "new" to "advanced." These regularly scheduled workshops are announced to all licensed providers through mailings, our 4Cs newsletter, and our website. A CCIP participant can earn from 4 - 7 training hours for each Saturday Workshop attended.
